Come and learn the basics of pruning established fruit trees and try out some mulching too.
Join us for half a day or stay till we finish-full day.
You’ll learn the basics of summer pruning preserving the heritage apple and pear tree stock in this well-used green-space. You’ll learn how to quickly identify problem branches, where to cut them and the pests and diseases that may cause a tree’s decline. Leaving you with the skills to take back to your own fruit trees at home or further afield.
We only use professional horticulture tools from brands such as Niwaki, Silky and Opinel. You are welcome to bring your own gardening gloves and clean secateurs if you have them. A full safety briefing will be given at the start of the session. We have a limited number of left-handed tools too!
Be advised of the weather forecast on the day and please dress appropriately. We will be outdoors all day. Note there are no publicly accessible loos on site but we are able to use the nearby Powerleague facilities.
Refreshments will be provided (tea/coffee/snacks) but you might want  to bring some water too.
