Today is World Earth Day Tuesday 22 April 2024

World Earth Day reminds the world about the importance of environment conservation and sustainability, encouraging us to come together and take action for a healthier planet and brighter future. The day raises awareness and inspires change, fostering a deep connection with nature. The official theme for 2024 is “Planet vs. Plastics.”

“The word environment means what surrounds you. In the case of plastics we have become the product itself – it flows through our blood stream, adheres to our internal organs, and carries with it heavy metals known to cause cancer and disease. Now this once-thought amazing and useful product has become something else, and our health and that of all other living creatures hangs in the balance,” said Kathleen Rogers, President of EARTHDAY.ORG. “The Planet vs. Plastics campaign is a call to arms, a demand that we act now to end the scourge of plastics and safeguard the health of every living being upon our planet.”

For Earth Day 2024 on April 22nd, EARTHDAY.ORG is campaigning to promote an unwavering commitment to end plastics for the sake of human and planetary health, demanding a 60% reduction in the production of ALL plastics by 2040.

Scientists believe that microplastics in our bodies may be responsible for everything from cancer to autism to Alzheimer’s to birth defects to falling fertility rates. We could save them a lot of time if the oil, gas, and plastics industries will tell us what they know.

Send a letter to Dow Inc., the third largest plastics producer, and ask them to release any studies or information they have on the health impacts associated with the full life cycle of plastics.

We are asking all HMVCG supporters to join this campaign to ask Dow’s CEO For Earth Day 2024 on April 22nd, EARTHDAY.ORG is unwavering in our commitment to end plastics for the sake of human and planetary health, demanding a 60% reduction in the production of ALL plastics by 2040.
