Howl-o-Ween Parade, Heaton Mersey Park

Howl-o-Ween Parade : Sunday 28 October 12 – 2pm.

Our two most successful family focused events at Heaton Mersey Park were the Spooky Walk and the Rex Factor.   Therefore, this Halloween we have decided to combine the two with our Howl-o-ween Parade!

Everyone is invited to come in fancy dress.  The theme is open.

Spooky Parade:

There are 3 fancy dress competition categories:

  1. Best dressed dog
  2. Best dressed dog owner/family combo – i.e. dog and human(s) together
  3. Best dressed human – an individual or a family outfit/theme

The parade will seek to make your creations very visible with a exploratory stroll of the conservation area.   Please note costumes don’t have to be Halloween focused. We are looking for the most creative ideas and their execution.

To enter the fancy dress competition contact us for a registration form.  Closing date for entries is 12 noon 26th October.

Other attractions include:

  • The hugely popular performance poet Terry Caffrey, poet in residence at the Bridgewater Hall and the National Football Museum, will be performing from 12-2pm for everyone’s delight. Be prepared to be entertained and engaged whatever your age.
  • The Spooky Story tent will be open from 12 noon. Come prepared for some gripping tales which will make your knees wobble and your eyes boggle. Particularly suitable for under 8s . Children must be accompanied.
  • The fabulous Do Your Thing choir with a repetoire of not so haunting sounds, but will you recognise them?
  • The face painter returns with her wonderful designs but how creepy will you decide to go?

,,,,,,, and the very weird pop up Cauldron Cafe where you can pick up a blood curdling hot drink.

So, start thinking of a creative costume or costumes for all the family.  If you’d like some dog costume inspiration click here to see how dogs in Manchester got into the spooky spirit last year.

As we finalise details we will update this page and post more details on the HMVCG facebook page.
