The Sidings Orchard Re-emerges

This Sunday proved to be another fruitful day for our wonderful volunteers!  The fruit trees planted at this community orchard in the last decade were being swamped by scrub. But now, after a full morning of work (check out our photo-story below), they can prosper and the area be enjoyed by visitors to the Mersey Vale Nature Park.  With continued management of the grassland, we hope to see a more species rich sward coming in, adding another source of nectar for pollinators alongside the blossom. Great work team.

PS.  We’ll be back at the Orchard next Sunday morning to finish clearing the cuttings.  If you would like to help then just come along – see our events page for further details of this or to join our mailing list.
