Scything with Cheshire Wildlife Trust

We are delighted to have Cheshire Wildlife Trust back for 2 days (Wed 14th and Thurs 15th November) to help us scythe and rake the orchard and grassland at Mersey Vale Nature Park.

Please join us.

FREE tuition in the traditional art of scything whilst helping preserve the vital grassland areas at the Park. Also needed are helpers to clear up the cuttings & build habitats for the wildlife.   Tools, gloves, hi vis jackets, hot drinks & biscuits provided.

CWT volunteers will be working from 10am to 3pm.  Come along when you can – athough if you are scything it would help if you arrive at 10am when there will be a group training session. Any time you can spare will help make a difference and be much appreciated.

Please note that if you are under 16 years you need to be accompanied by an adult. 

THINGS TO BRING: Drinking water. Weather appropriate clothing and sturdy footwear. You may want to bring your own gloves.

TIME & PLACE: Meet up at 10am at the picnic bench on the right of the Sidings Orchard access path.  Nearest park entrance to this is Craig Road (opposite Ravenswood Avenue SK4 2BR).  If you arrive later please look out for  volunteers.working in the orchard (on Wed 14th) or on the grassland to the south west of the orchard (on the 15th).
