Fruit Tree Pruning at Mersey Vale Nature Park Orchard

SUNDAY 10TH FEBRUARY – 10:30-3:30pm  (if you can’t stay all day then any time you can spare will be much appreciated)

This workshop is FREE if you have attended a previous pruning training event with us or at a community orchard in Greater Manchester.  If not, it will cost £10.  For this you’ll have the Orchard Project’s Dan Hasler on hand to assist, guide and advise. Under his supervision and guidance you’ll quickly be assessing trees, making cuts and helping to restore the 100+ fruit trees within the nature reserve.

Objective

Community orchards are great venues for all kinds of activity, year round. This time of year it’s all hands on deck (well, trees!) for the winter pruning.  We are holding two events as there are now over 100 trees that need attention.  The second one is on WEDNESDAY 6TH FEBRUARY – 10.30-3.30pm.

What to Bring

Hot drinks & light refreshments will be provided but please bring some lunch with you.

Please wear appropriate clothing as we’ll still make progress in light rain/drizzle and/or cold. Wellies are advised.

The Sidings orchard won ‘Best Community Orchard Based Event’ at the prestigious Orchard Project’s awards ceremony at the end of 2018.
